Physical Education

At Ryecroft C E Middle School the Physical Education department aims to enrich children’s learning by offering a broad range of activities for children to engage in and experience. This will be conducted through play, friendly competition, familiarisation with equipment and fitness.
In accordance to the National Curriculum children will be exposed to a minimum of 2 hours compulsory PE lessons a week and following the government initiative to increase physical activity levels in children, they will have the opportunity to engage with a minimum of 60 minutes moderate to vigorous physical activity a day, incorporated across the curriculum in lessons and during extra-curricular activity.
Children are challenged individually and in teams developing integrity, trust and sportsmanship. By the end of Year 8, opportunities will have been presented whereby children have attended residential trips, participated in outdoor pursuits as well as representing the school in extra-curricular competitions.
Children will become independent and take ownership for their health and fitness and gain knowledge to stay and adapt for their lifestyle choices.
